EVENT: 05 | 07 | 2018 | DIE FELDKÜCHE
EXPERIMENTE WASSER RECYCLING | HOCHSCHULTAGE NACHHALTIGKEIT | 20. & 21/JUNE/2018 | FU BERLIN
The sustainability initiative SUSTAIN IT! organised the fifth times the university days of sustainability and climate protection on the campus of the Free university of Berlin. Together with students of this year’s ABV seminar they offered during five days a coloured programme for all enthusiasts. Under the motto „Is it garbage or can it been thrown away?“ everything will turn on sustainable life style and consumption styles, around waste avoidance and on recycling.
I also carried out water recycling experiments with plants and another sustainable material during these days and showed the water recycling garden with treatment plants. How exactly do plant work to clean the water? How long do the plants need to remove the soap which is in the water? How clean does become the water? How many waters can clean the plants?
It was a great event and I talked a lot with curios visitors, get in contact with interesting students initiative like „Clean leaves“ and „Waste No Taste“ and plan new events. It remains exciting!
EXPERIMENTE WASSER RECYCLING| LANGE NACHT DER WISSENSCHAFTEN 2018 | 09/JUNE/2018 | HTW BERLIN
Which methods exist with which everybody come out of the water crisis a little bit and recycle with own means and possibilities his water in sustainable way so that it is usable?
How can we supply ourselves without chemistry and the dependence on expensive company products self-sufficiently with water?
I work on old and new methods for a self sufficient recycling of water with sustainable material in my research project HOUSE OF TINY of SYSTEMS. I transform in each case the concept in a tiny show garden to provide the knowledge about the methods in a transparent process. The design of the show gardens allows an experimental access to the effect principles of the different filter materials.
The first experiments with the GARDEN 2 | Water recycling with active carbon, sand and gravel | are carried out by the „Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften in 2018“ at the HTW in the urban garden. We will test the efficiency of several filter material and want to find out whether active carbon can change the indegrients of wine.
Find out how actually activated carbon works.
Can sand remove soap?
What becomes of beer and coke if these liquids pass several filters?
Does wine becomes water?
We will make 3 experiments to which everyone can register at the stand of the „urban garden“ of the HTW.
More details you can find on Facebook.
FLOATING UNIVERSITY BERLIN | RAUMLABOR
Currently Raumlabor Berlin works together with students and scientists of more than 20 international universities on the construction of the experimental campus „Floating University of Berlin“. During the OPEN WEEKS visitors can take part in workshops and discussions and have a look at the area which is developed steadily.
Toilets with a manual rinse with washing water, a gigantic construct for catching of rainwater and the construction of a gigantic waterwheel create the atmosphere of a partizipativen lab, where the knowledge is transmitted. I visited Katherine Ball‘s workshop who showed us the whole area and different plant filters for the water recycling. Together we „built“ a filter which can clean water with the help of mushrooms. Nevertheless, still much experimental experience is necessary to find out which mushroom cleans the water, is suited accordingly and which conditions are necessary, so that these well grow.
Katherine gave two different mushroom filters to every participant and I take up this for my experiments „water recycling with mushrooms“ in my programme to make different tests and find out if mushrooms are usefull to clean the water in a tiny house. More moreover comes after the „long night of the sciences in 2018“ in Berlin HTW. Till then I prepare first the experiments for this event and grows the mushrooms in rest.
The cafe Schöneweile makes at 4 pm a small fire in the fire bowl and has delicious cakes and cafes.
When enough people come together, we make a POTLUCK, to which everyone can bring something. In a large pan we can cook a hot soup. Please write to management_at_houseof_punkt_tiny_minus_systems_punkt_com if you would like to join and write to me what you want to bring.
The LABORATORY GARDEN can be visited during the OPEN HOUSE. If you have left plants, seeds or cuttings of medicinal and beneficial plants, you can bring them along, talk and drink a hot tea.
Sometimes a few people come to me to build with me the garden of the laboratory garden. It’s a opportunity to exchange knowledge, discuss about the construction and talk about the concept of the garden. If you are interested to participate you see on my Facebook Page the informations.
„Inside the tiny house“ goes on. The interior construction is progressing and I will expand the multifunctional hidden area this month and introduce you. You have already got a little look at the exterior – now the inner life follows.
START JANUARY: CONSTRUCTION OF THE LABORATORY GARDEN
START FEBRUARY: CONSTRUCTION OF THE GARDEN 2 | WATER RECYCLING ACCORDING TO P. FRNACHINO
START APRIL: CONSTRUCTION OF THE GARDEN 1 | WATER RECYCLING BY PLANTS
Every month there is a large, ongoing project that I will focus on. The current projects are temporary projects that are directly connected with my topic TINY SYSTEMS | ideas for a self-sufficient life in a tiny house. Some projects that are smaller, I continue while larger projects can go on after construction through further development.
I always introduce a project that I will work on and who is interested to participate, can write me.
GERMAN TV | BAUHAUS CAMPUS BERLIN
[ 05 | 09 | 2017 ]
It was a great day full of excitement and sunshine. For the German TV channel ARD we filmed my working day on the Campus and talked about the water recycling system in the function wall of my tiny house. I’m very curios about the documentation which will show in October.
LANGE NACHT DER MUSEEN | BAUHAUS CAMPUS BERLIN
[ 19 | 08 | 2017 ]
During the special event LANGE NACHT DER MUSEEN I represented my project at the Bauhaus Campus Berlin. The Campus was full of people who wanted to see all tiny houses on the Campus. Jan Fritsche and Oli created a cool program with music, workshops and food stops. Every house looked really nice with lights and small shows.
PRESS CONFERENCE AND OPENING DAY | BAUHAUS CAMPUS BERLIN
[ 20 | 07 | 2017 ]
Registration via Facebook Event
We – Katrin, Tjark, Jean Pierre and Lorenz – would like to invite you to our joint OPENING DAY on 17 July. We are very proud to introduce you to the RETREAT and the HOUSE OF TINY SYSTEMS on our temporary station – the Bauhaus campus Berlin – on the area of the Bauhaus archive in Berlin Mitte.
On this day we would like to show you the two houses, laugh, dance, toast a glass of sparkling wine and marvel at the artistic act. We looking forward to seeing you!
The tiny house project HOUSE OF TINY SYSTEMS combines the architectural space of the prototype model RETINY with the vision of a wandering laboratory for the exploration of sustainable and self-sufficient grey water, energy and heat systems for mobile spaces.
Together with the work of the company RESPACE arose a large project. A project that deals with our water resource holistically – technically, scientifically, legally, philosophically and artistically.
RESPACE works on a temporary spatial compression of urban areas and designs existing and new cityplanes with mobile and modular spaces. Politicians, planners, investors and interested parties will be invited to a discourse on the design of unused urban areas during the exhibition at the Bauhaus Campus Berlin. The mobile RETREAT will be an open discussion and workshop space for ideas, concepts and innovations. The aim is the realization of a mobile prototype settlement for new residents in Berlin.
Just look at it. We looking forward to seeing you!
The exact agenda follows these days.

[ the opening day ]
It was a great party with a lot of people and fun! We were worried that it would rain because there was a weather warning of storm. But the sun shined and we had a nice atmosphere to present our hours and program during our stay. My friend YULE POST created a beautiful sound for the evening and the people sit and hear her great voice.
