[ THE MATERIAL CYCLES OF A SUSTAINABLE HOUSEHOLD ]
The blue economy was further developed as a vision of the fundamental idea of the green economy to a holistic view of nature, human and economy. For me, the inclusion of my environment, mental and physical health and the balance of all the resources I use is elementary in order to create a stable system in the long term.
The integration and construction of a micro cycle economy in my tiny house leads to a long term minimization of the resource contribution to the „house“ system and thus to an ecological and economic benefit and above all financial advantage.
„So zero/low waste in a mobile tiny house means more than just the pure, sustainable thought of avoiding unnecessary rubbish. It simply means having a problem less. Besides the positive effect of saving waste (especially plastic waste), it has the economic advantage of not having to build and maintain a waste infrastructure with all the costs.„
As a logical conclusion from the construction and integration of a self sufficient water recycling system, which will work sustainably and autonomously in my tiny house, the well thought out establishment of material cycles is an essential component. Without them, the concept of sustainability in my water cycle wouldn‘t work.
The focus WATER of my project HOUSE OF TINY SYSTEMS puts the focus on the recycling of my used water and thus secondary also on the introduction of substances into the circuits of my tiny house. Without looking at the material cycles the analysis of various methods of water recycling would only remain superficial and leave outside, how and by what I’m polluting my water or the unawareness about it possibly would cause failures in the use of sustainable methods.
In concentrating on really sustainable and accessible recycling methods such as plants and microorganism (see criteria), expensive and elaborate procedures (e.g. micro-and ultrafiltration) are initially outside, whereby a successful establishment of purification processes takes into account the material cycles and their effect in water.
I gradually build up the cycles WATER CYCLE, FOOD CYCLE and ENERGY CYCLE and reduce the substances that cannot be transferred into their own circuits with a zero/low waste approach. This includes the development of technical systems and the confrontation with the substances that can be introduced into my circuits without adverse and supplement the respective system. Sustainability contributes to functioning circuits makes the house self-sufficient.
